Demise of Professor Aijaz Solangi; An irreversible loss for National Movement by Ijaz Junior

Today, the 17th of April is the day of assassination of Professor Aijaz Solangi. Who was Aijaz? Most of us even don’t know a little about him. Even I, who know everything about JSMM, didn’t recognize him when a friend sent me a text on Facebook, “Big tragedy has happened, Aijaz Solangi has been assassinated”. “Who is he?” I inquired. My friend told me that he is one of the most important persons of the JSMM. I was still perplexed, my friend suggested me to go through some News feed on media, and I was shocked to see the pic of a person, to whom I knew as Ali Buland Solangi, a great intellect and scholar, Ali Buland Solangi was the nick name of Prof: Aijaz Solangi.
He was the one of the intellects of JSMM, who avoid common attention and rarely attend the political gatherings; no one knew his work behind the scene. He was the person, who in 2010-2011, wrote many letters to international organizations and international community to disclose the real face of Pakistan during disastrous Super-floods in Sindh. He informed the international community that their aids were not being righteously used to assist the flood-victims in Sindh, rather which were being fallaciously used in Punjab, where there were no floods. This caused NGOs to deliver the aid activities directly in remote areas of Sindh rather than depending on Pakistan govt. and funding it. Specialy, Mr. Danis from UN and U.S ambassador Richard Halbroke personally visited Sindh and denied their confidence over Pakistani institutions. In a response to the strong stance of JSMM, this state started operation against JSMM. Flood-relief camps organized by JSMM were forcibly closed by agencies and JSMM activists and leaders were kept under illegal detentions. Shabir Mallah, Central deputy secretary of JSMM, was abducted by spy agencies when he was on a visit to flood-victims’ camp in Thatta. But letters of JSMM chairman towards international community worked and he was released after two months. State was very perplexed and angry to find out Shafi Burfat anywhere but failed. Finally they were able to capture Prof: Aijaz Solangi after an strong homework. They forced him to tell them the secrets of JSMM and help them to capture JSMM Chairman Shafi Muhammad Burfat or tell them his hideouts.
In the morning of April 17, 2011 Prof: Aijaz immediately called on a press conference and told the local media that ISI would kill him, “they are following me every where and threatening me on cell phone, I know they will surely kill me. If I am assassinated, ISI officials will be responsible for that” and the coming evening, ISI killed him by giving him electric shocks of high voltage and his death was declared as suicide case by police and so-called Paki media. It’s a matter of deep understanding that he was a strong man who called a press conference and accused ISI that they will kill him, how could he commit suicide? If he were to commit suicide, why would he call on press conference?
We are greatly disappointed by Pakistani Judiciary, being a Baloch and Sindhi means you have no judicial and political right in addition. Assassination of Prof: Aijaz Solangi is buried in the same way as they have buried down the assassinations of Sindhi and Baloch political activists like Samiullah Kalhoro.
Sindh will never forget this legendary scholar. In 1st, I didn’t know Aijaz but now when I have come to know everything about him I can surely say that “Assassination of Professor Aijaz Solangi is an irreversible loss for National Movement.”
